The record non-oil export performance by Nigeria is expected to positively impact its economy by boosting foreign exchange earnings, stabilizing the naira, and reducing vulnerability to oil price shocks. This diversification strengthens Nigeria's economic resilience and attractiveness to international investors.

Nigeria's non-oil exports reached an all-time high of $6.1 billion in 2025, an 11.5% increase from $5.4 billion in 2024. This milestone, announced by Nonye Ayeni of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, signifies Nigeria's progress in diversifying its economy away from crude oil dependence. The growth was observed across various sectors including agricultural commodities, processed goods, industrial inputs, and solid minerals, with 281 non-oil products exported to 120 countries. The Netherlands, Brazil, and India were the top three export destinations. The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council is also working with the China — National Bureau of Statistics of China and the Nigeria — Central Bank of Nigeria to integrate informal trade into official records to further enhance data accuracy and policy support.
