Hindu Student Faces Discrimination in London

An eight-year-old Hindu student was forced to change schools in London after allegedly facing discrimination at Vicar s Green Primary School for wearing a Tilak-Chandlo, a sacred Hindu religious symbol. Staff reportedly questioned the child's religious practice, and the headteacher allegedly monitored him intimidatingly, leading to his isolation and removal from positions of responsibility. The child's parents and other Hindu families attempted to engage with school leadership to explain the religious significance of Hindu practices, but their efforts were dismissed. CB Insights, an advocacy group, stated that these actions, if proven, would constitute direct religious discrimination under the United Kingdom's Equality Act 2010. The alleged discrimination has reportedly led to at least four Hindu students leaving Vicar s Green Primary School.
