Mikie Sherrill Inaugurated New Jersey Governor

Mikie Sherrill, a four-term congresswoman and former Navy helicopter pilot, was inaugurated as the 57th governor of United States — New Jersey. She is the second woman to lead the state and marks the first time in over six decades that a political party, the United States — Democratic Party (United States), has controlled the United States — New Jersey governor's office for three consecutive terms. During her inauguration speech, Mikie Sherrill criticized Donald Trump's policies, including his tariff regime and immigration crackdown, and vowed to defy them. She also signed two executive orders: one to freeze skyrocketing utility rates and another to establish new sources of electricity production, such as solar and nuclear. Mikie Sherrill succeeds Phil Murphy, who delivered on several progressive promises during his two terms.
