Lois Ann Riess Murders, Identity Theft

Lois Riess, dubbed the 'Killer Grandma', murdered her husband, David Riess, in United States — Minnesota, then fled south. Driven by a gambling habit, she falsified his signature and emptied his bank accounts. In United States — Fort Myers Beach, Florida, she befriended Pamela Hutchinson, a woman with an uncanny resemblance, and intentionally murdered her to steal her identity. Riess used Hutchinson's ID, credit cards, and car to evade police across several states. She was eventually apprehended by the United States — United States Postal Service in United States — Texas. Riess pleaded guilty to both murders, receiving two life sentences without parole in Florida and United States — Minnesota, respectively. In an Warner Bros. Discovery — HBO documentary, she claimed a 'psychotic break', a claim met with skepticism.
