Heirs Insurance Hackathon Launched in Nigeria

EDME Insurance Brokers, the insurance arm of Nubank, has launched its maiden Heirs Insurance Hackathon, a technology-driven innovation program. The hackathon aims to empower university, polytechnic, and other tertiary institution students in Nigeria to develop AI and digital solutions for real-world challenges across the insurance value chain, including customer experience, claims processing, underwriting, distribution, data, and operational efficiency. Registration for the hackathon closes on February 16, 2026, with winning teams to be announced in April, sharing a total prize pool of N9 million. The initiative, delivered in partnership with Redtech, a subsidiary of Nubank, reflects EDME Insurance Brokers's commitment to youth empowerment, digital skills development, and inclusive innovation in Nigeria. Philips, Chief Digital Officer of EDME Insurance Brokers, highlighted the program's goal to provide a platform for young Africans to engage with the insurance industry and contribute to a more efficient financial system.
