James Jimenez, Comelec Spokesperson, Dies

James Jimenez, the former spokesperson and Director IV of the Education and Information Department for the Election commission in the Philippines, has passed away at the age of 52. He served the Election commission from 2006 to 2022, holding the distinction of being the longest-serving and youngest spokesperson in government at the time of his appointment. James Jimenez was instrumental in explaining complex electoral processes, defending democratic institutions, and pioneering the Election commission's official social media channels to enhance public trust and voter education. He opted for early retirement in September 2022 due to health and personal reasons. The Election commission and many Filipinos have expressed their condolences and honored his legacy of public service and contributions to election transparency.
