Aer Lingus Ceases Manchester Transatlantic Flights

International Airlines Group — Aer Lingus has confirmed its decision to fully cease transatlantic operations from Manchester Airport by March 31, 2026. This includes routes to United States — New York City, United States — Orlando, Florida, and Barbados, with the United States — New York City route ending on February 23, 2026. The airline cited poor operating margin performance for its Manchester long-haul base compared to its Irish operations. International Airlines Group — Aer Lingus will continue its short-haul flights between Manchester and Ireland and plans to operate a service from Dublin Airport to Barbados to reaccommodate affected customers. The airline is engaging with staff to discuss redeployment and severance packages for approximately 200 affected employees. Manchester Airport has stated that overall connectivity will not be affected as other airlines already serve these long-haul routes.
