UK Monitors Chinese Rocket Debris

Officials in the United Kingdom are monitoring the re-entry of debris from the Chinese Zhuque-3 rocket, which launched in December 2025. Mobile network operators in the United Kingdom have been instructed to verify their emergency alert systems in case the debris impacts British territory, particularly northern England, Northern Ireland, or northern Scotland. While officials emphasize the unlikelihood of impact, the request to telecommunications firms is considered unusual. The European Union's Space Surveillance and Tracking agency and Poland's space agency are also monitoring the re-entry, which is expected to pass over Europe. The reusable booster of the Zhuque-3 rocket, designed along SpaceX principles, previously exploded on impact after reaching orbit.
