Pakistan Cricket Board faces boycott repercussions

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about potential legal action from T20 World Cup broadcaster JioStar due to Pakistan's decision to boycott its February 15 match against India. The boycott, reportedly instructed by the Pakistani government, could lead to significant financial penalties for the PCB, including the withholding of its annual revenue share of approximately USD 35 million by the ICC to compensate broadcasters. The PCB is preparing for serious repercussions, as efforts to appeal to the ICC Dispute Resolution Committee are unlikely to succeed. The situation is complicated by Pakistan's request to play matches at a neutral venue (Sri Lanka) instead of India, and the Indian government's stance on playing Pakistan at neutral venues. There is speculation that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the interior minister, might reverse the boycott decision after the Bangladesh general elections on February 12.
