Nestle Widens Infant Formula Recall

Nestlé has widened its infant formula recall to include an additional batch of Guigoz after France lowered its maximum threshold for the cereulide toxin. This decision by France, influenced by advice from the European Union — European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), contradicted initial analyst expectations that no further recalls would be necessary for Nestlé and Danone. The cereulide toxin, which can cause nausea and vomiting, was detected in ingredients from a factory in China, specifically an oil blend from Cabio Biotech, which has seen its shares fall. French investigators are also examining a possible link between two infant deaths and the recalled Guigoz formula, although Nestlé and French authorities state there is no evidence of a connection at this stage. The recall has affected dozens of countries, primarily across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and has raised significant concerns among parents and regulatory bodies, intensifying scrutiny on infant nutrition safety standards.
