Mumbai Mayor Election Results

The India — Bharatiya Janata Party (India — Bharatiya Janata Party) has nominated Ritu Tawade for the Mumbai mayor election, while its ally India — Shiv Sena (UBT) declared Sanjay Shankar Ghadi as its candidate for the deputy mayor's post. This development marks a significant shift in Mumbai's civic politics, as it is expected to end the India — Shiv Sena (UBT)'s 25-year dominance over the mayoral position in the India — Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Ritu Tawade, a seasoned corporator, is poised to become the first non-India — Shiv Sena (UBT) mayor in over two decades. The elections for the 227-member India — Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation saw the India — Bharatiya Janata Party emerge as the single largest party with 89 seats, and the India — Shiv Sena (UBT) securing 29 seats. Together, their alliance holds 118 corporators, comfortably surpassing the majority mark of 114. Sanjay Shankar Ghadi will serve as deputy mayor for 15 months, with the India — Shiv Sena (UBT) planning to rotate the position among four corporators. The India — Shiv Sena (UBT), which previously governed the India — Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for 25 years, won 65 seats.
