Maruti Suzuki achieved its highest-ever rail dispatch in calendar year 2025, transporting over 5.85 lakh vehicles, an 18% increase from 2024. This significant shift to rail logistics, which now accounts for 26% of its outbound dispatches, is part of Maruti Suzuki's 'Circular Mobility' approach to sustainability. The company's efforts have led to a reduction of 87,904 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions and saved 68.7 million litres of fuel. Key milestones in 2025 included the inauguration of India's largest automobile in-plant railway siding at its Manesar facility and becoming the first automaker to dispatch vehicles to Kashmir valley via the Chenab Rail Bridge. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki, stated the mid-term goal is to increase rail-based vehicle dispatches to 35% by FY 2030-31, contributing to India's net-zero ambition by 2070. Maruti Suzuki has been a pioneer in rail-based vehicle transportation, obtaining an AFTO license in 2013 and transporting over 28 lakh vehicles since FY 2014-15.
