Initiative Foods Recalls Baby Food

Initiative Foods has recalled one lot of its 'Tippy Toes' brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree after the United States — Food and Drug Administration's Total Diet Study found elevated levels of patulin, a mycotoxin produced by mold. Patulin can cause adverse health effects such as immune suppression, nerve damage, headache, fever, and nausea with long-term exposure. The affected product, with lot number 07174 and a best-by date of July 17, 2026, was distributed to grocery stores across the United States, excluding Alaska, and potentially to U.S. territories including United States — Puerto Rico and United States — Guam. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. Don Ephgrave, CEO and President of Initiative Foods, stated the company is cooperating with the United States — Food and Drug Administration to ensure strict review and enhanced safety measures. Consumers are advised to discontinue use, dispose of, or return the product for a refund.
