Gamini gives birth to 4 cubs

Cheetah Gamini, translocated from South Africa, gave birth to three cubs and subsequently a fourth cub at India — Kuno National Park in India — Madhya Pradesh, India. This event, announced by Union Environment Minister Devender Yadav, marks the ninth successful cheetah litter on Indian soil and increases India's total cheetah population to 39, including 28 India-born cubs. The births are considered a significant success for Project Cheetah, an ambitious reintroduction program launched in September 2022 by India to revive the population of cheetahs, which had gone extinct in the country. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also acknowledged India — Madhya Pradesh's role as a key center for cheetah reintroduction. Earlier, cheetah Aasha, from Namibia, also gave birth to five cubs at India — Kuno National Park. These births highlight the dedication of field staff and veterinary teams involved in the project.
