The supercomputer will operate under India-defined governance frameworks, ensuring data sovereignty and security, and will serve as a foundational asset under the India AI Mission. It will be accessible to a diverse ecosystem including premier institutions, startups, SMEs, and government ministries, aiming to lower barriers to AI innovation in sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and education. This project builds on existing collaborations, such as the release of the Nanda 87B Hindi-English large language model by G42 and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in December 2025. The initiative is part of a broader India-United Arab Emirates partnership framework and aligns with India's goal to become a global leader in AI, attracting substantial investments from other major tech companies like Adani Group, Reliance Industries, OpenAI, Tata Group, Amazon (company), Alphabet Inc., and Microsoft.
