The market saw a mixed performance among top-valued firms, with some like Larsen & Toubro and State Bank of India experiencing significant gains, while others such as Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank faced declines. This indicates a selective investor sentiment rather than a broad market movement, as reflected by the modest rise in the S&P BSE Sensex.
Last week, the combined market valuation of six of India's top-10 valued firms increased by Rs 63,478.46 crore. Larsen & Toubro and State Bank of India were the biggest gainers, with their market capitalizations jumping by Rs 28,523.31 crore and Rs 16,015.12 crore, respectively. HDFC Bank, Life Insurance Corporation, Bajaj Finance, and Reliance Industries also saw their valuations climb. Conversely, Bharti Airtel experienced the sharpest fall, with its market cap tumbling by Rs 15,338.66 crore. ICICI Bank, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services also registered declines. The broader market, represented by the S&P BSE Sensex, rose by 187.95 points, or 0.22 percent, indicating a modest overall upward trend despite the varied performance of individual top companies. Reliance Industries maintained its position as the most-valued firm.
