Nepal Bus Crash Kills 19

A packed bus traveling from Nepal — Pokhara to Nepal — Kathmandu, Nepal, plunged off the Prithvi highway, killing 19 people and injuring 25. Among the deceased was a British national, and injured individuals included a Chinese national and a New Zealand national. The accident occurred near Benighat, about 80km west of Nepal — Kathmandu, with the bus landing on the banks of the Trishuli River. Authorities, including government administrator Mohan Prasad Neupane, initiated rescue operations, transporting the injured to hospitals in Nepal — Kathmandu. Police are investigating the cause, noting that bus accidents are common in Nepal due to poorly maintained roads and vehicles in the mountainous terrain. The incident also brought up a past event in 2024 where two buses with 65 people fell into the same river.
