The India — Government of Delhi, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has sanctioned a ₹453.95 crore project to construct a 60.77 km road corridor along the Najafgarh Drain. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and enhance connectivity between rural and urban areas of Delhi. The project involves building a two-lane road on the left bank from Jhatikra Bridge to Chhawla Bridge and roads on both sides of the drain from Chhawla to Basaidarapur. It will link major roads including Outer Ring Road, Inner Ring Road, and UER-II, providing direct access to India — Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ganga Expressway. The corridor will also improve connectivity to India — Gurgaon Sectors 104 and 110. Modern amenities such as walking, jogging, and cycling tracks, landscaping, tree plantation, street lighting, and improved drainage systems are planned. Administrative approvals are expected by March 2026, tendering by April 2026, construction by May 2026, and completion by November 2027.
