Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Micron Technology's state-of-the-art ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging) plant in Sanand, India — Gujarat, on February 28, 2026. Micron Technology has invested ₹22,516 crore in this facility, which marks the beginning of a new chapter in India's semiconductor journey. The plant, India's first semiconductor fabrication plant, will manufacture SSD Solid State Drive storage devices, RAM type DRAM, and NAND products for the global market, with a particular focus on supporting the rising demand in the Artificial intelligence sector. The facility is expected to create 5,000 direct employment opportunities, including for specially-abled citizens. Sanjay Mehrotra, Chairman, President and CEO of Micron Technology, emphasized the critical role of memory and storage in today's technology, especially for Artificial intelligence systems. The project has been supported by the focused efforts of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel of India — Gujarat.
