Tinubu Renews Audi's NSCDC Tenure

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria — Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a new five-year term, effective February 27, 2026. This renewal follows the expiration of Ahmed Abubakar Audi's initial tenure, which began in 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. Bola Tinubu has tasked Ahmed Abubakar Audi with repositioning the Nigeria — Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to enhance its role in national security, particularly as the police focus on their primary responsibilities of protecting citizens from banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism. The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, born on September 30, 1967, has a long history with the Nigeria — Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, having joined as a volunteer in 1996 and serving in various capacities before his initial appointment as Commandant-General.
