Rapper Ghetts Jailed for Hit-and-Run

Rapper Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing the death of 20-year-old Nepali student Yubin Tamang in a hit-and-run collision. The incident occurred on October 18, 2025, in north-east London, where Ghetts was driving his BMW M5 at excessive speeds (up to 74mph in a 30mph zone) and was one-and-a-half times over the legal drink-drive limit. CCTV footage showed Ghetts driving erratically, running red lights, veering onto the wrong side of the road, and colliding with other vehicles before hitting Yubin Tamang. After the collision, Ghetts failed to stop or call emergency services, driving eight miles home. Yubin Tamang suffered catastrophic injuries and died two days later. Judge Mark Lucraft KC at the United Kingdom — Old Bailey sentenced Ghetts to 12 years in prison and disqualified him from driving for 17 years. Ghetts had 12 previous convictions for 27 crimes and expressed remorse in a letter to the court.
