David Brown Fatal Driving Conviction

David Brown, 25, was driving his BMW 1 Series along Teehey Lane in Bebington on March 4, 2024, when he fatally struck 81-year-old pedestrian James Atkinson. Brown was speeding, driving between 39-42mph in a 30mph zone, and failed to see Mr. Atkinson crossing the road. After the collision, Brown fled the scene but was later brought back by his mother, who subsequently testified against him. Mr. Atkinson sustained catastrophic injuries and died two days later in the Walton Centre. David Brown was found guilty by a jury at United Kingdom — Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, Liverpool of causing death by dangerous driving and admitted failing to stop after an accident. He was sentenced to four years in prison and disqualified from driving for seven years.
