Petition Against Ian Huntley Funeral Funding

Following the death of child killer Soham murders in HM Prison Frankland, a public outcry has emerged regarding the use of taxpayer money for his funeral and memorial service. A petition launched by Carly Batley, demanding the Nigeria — Ministry of Justice (Nigeria) waive the £3,000 funeral contribution and cancel any planned prison memorial service, has garnered over 40,000 signatures. The petition also calls for a review of death-in-custody provisions for those convicted of serious crimes against children. Justice Secretary David Lammy has the authority to override the existing policy. Soham murders's daughter, Samantha Bryan, has also publicly stated her belief that her father does not deserve a funeral or grave.
