An inquest is being held into the deaths of Matthew Williams and Cerys Yemm at the Sirhowy Arms Hotel in November 2014. Matthew Williams, a recently released prisoner with a history of mental health issues and drug abuse, brutally murdered Cerys Yemm with a screwdriver and bit her face. The hotel owner, Mandy Miles, discovered the horrific scene and made a distressing 999 call. Williams subsequently died after being tasered multiple times by police. The inquest revealed that Williams was released from prison without medication or supervision, despite being a paranoid schizophrenic who had been sectioned twice and reported auditory hallucinations. His mother, Ken Williams, and friend, Rhodri Moore, testified about his deteriorating mental state and drug use after his release. Toxicology reports confirmed the presence of Amphetamine in Williams's system.
