Hyundai Palisade Recall After Child Death

Hyundai Motor Company has halted sales of certain 2026 Palisade SUVs in the United States and Canada and initiated a recall of approximately 68,500 vehicles. This action follows a tragic incident in United States — Ohio on March 7, where a two-year-old girl died due to a faulty power seat system in a Palisade. The affected vehicles, specifically the Limited and Calligraphy trims, have second- and third-row power seats that may not adequately detect contact with an occupant or object. Hyundai Motor Company has expressed its sympathies and is investigating the incident, while also developing an interim over-the-air software update to enhance seat safety features. The company is offering rental vehicles to affected customers until a permanent recall fix is available.
