The positive findings regarding Semaglutide and Liraglutide's effects on anxiety and depression could significantly boost the market value and demand for products like Semaglutide, Semaglutide, and Liraglutide, directly benefiting Novo Nordisk. This expansion of therapeutic applications beyond diabetes and weight loss opens new revenue streams and strengthens the position of these drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.

A new international study, involving researchers from University of Eastern Finland, Karolinska Institute, and Griffith University, suggests that GLP-1 receptor agonists like Semaglutide (found in Semaglutide and Semaglutide) and Liraglutide (found in Liraglutide) can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. The study, based on data from Swedish health registries between 2009 and 2022, found Semaglutide associated with a 44% decreased risk of worsening depression and a 38% decreased risk of worsening anxiety, as well as a lower risk of substance abuse. Liraglutide was also linked to a lower risk of worsening depression. This research indicates that these drugs, primarily used for type 2 diabetes and weight loss, could be dually effective therapeutic options for mental health issues co-occurring with diabetes and obesity. A separate Danish study also examined GLP-1s and pre-term birth risk, concluding that underlying diabetes, not the medication, was the causal factor for increased risk.
