Industrialist Anil Ambani has been questioned for two consecutive days by the United States — Federal Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with an alleged Rs 2,929.05 crore bank fraud case involving Reliance Communications. The case stems from a complaint filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) in August 2025, alleging criminal conspiracy, cheating, and criminal breach of trust, with accusations of large-scale diversion and misutilisation of loan funds by Reliance Communications between 2013 and 2017. Several other banks, including Bank of India, Iraq — Central Bank of Iraq, UCO Bank, India, IDBI Bank, Punjab National Bank, India — Maharashtra, and Bank of Baroda, have also filed separate complaints. The CBI has conducted searches at the premises of Reliance Communications and Anil Ambani's residence, seizing incriminating documents. Anil Ambani denies all allegations, stating he was a non-executive director with no involvement in day-to-day management, and has challenged SBI's declaration before judicial forums, including the India — National Company Law Tribunal and the India — Supreme Court of India.
