The completion of Phase 1 construction at Galan Lithium's Hombre Muerto West Project is a significant positive for the company, signaling its transition to a lithium producer and potential for future cash flow. This development is expected to positively impact Galan Lithium's stock price and contribute to the global lithium supply, affecting the broader mining and chemicals industries.
Galan Lithium has announced the completion of Phase 1 construction at its 100% owned Hombre Muerto West (HMW) Project in Catamarca Province, Argentina. This milestone marks Galan Lithium's transition from a lithium developer to a producer. All major infrastructure, including the nanofiltration plant and evaporation ponds, has been installed. The project is now entering the testing and commissioning phase, with electrical and mechanical testing underway. Galan Lithium has accumulated a substantial brine inventory of approximately 10,000 t LCE, ready for processing. Initial lithium chloride concentrate production is targeted for H1 2026, with first shipments in H2 2026, starting at an annualised rate of 4,000 tpa LCE. Plans are in place to expand production capacity to 5,200 tpa LCE, with further staged growth up to 60 ktpa LCE across four phases. The project's development was supported by the Argentine RIGI incentive regime. Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega, Managing Director of Galan Lithium, emphasized the project's significance as a scalable, low-cost lithium operation.
