The record cargo throughput and financial performance of Paradip Port indicate strong economic activity and efficiency in India's maritime sector. This positive development can attract further investment in the region's infrastructure and logistics, benefiting related industries and potentially boosting investor confidence in the Indian market.
Paradip Port achieved a historic milestone in FY 2025-26 by joining the '155+ Million Metric Tonnes Club,' recording its highest-ever cargo throughput of 156.45 MMT, a 4.01% growth. This performance, the best since its inception in 1966, establishes Paradip Port as the leading port on India's eastern coast and the best-performing bulk port with double the national average berth productivity. The port also reported its best financial performance, with a net surplus exceeding Rs. 2000 Cr and an operating ratio of 31%. Key cargo segments like Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants, steel, coal, container traffic, flux, and LPG all saw significant growth. Looking ahead, Paradip Port is focusing on expansion with the 25 MMTPA Western Dock Project, expected to be completed by 2026, and plans for a Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Export Terminal. The port aims to become the first fully mechanized bulk port in India before 2030. Chairman P. L. Haranadh acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders and the guidance from Sarbananda Sonowal and Shantanu Thakur.
