India reopens South Sudan supply route

Indian peacekeepers, part of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), have successfully reopened the critical Malakal-Renk main supply route in South Sudan's Upper Nile State. This route had been closed since last year's floods, which affected 1.35 million people and displaced nearly 375,600. The United Nations lauded these efforts, emphasizing the vital role of the mission in supporting stability and enabling humanitarian assistance. India is the top troop-contributing country to UNMISS. The new road alignment through Akoka-Kilo 20-Paloich-Renk significantly improves mobility and facilitates aid delivery. Additionally, Indian peacekeepers conducted various outreach activities in Renk, including veterinary and medical camps, and training on child protection and gender-based violence.
