The India — Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India has signed a Plan of Implementation with the South Korea — Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from South Korea to boost skill development in India's shipbuilding and marine sector. This initiative, aligned with India's Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, aims to position shipbuilding as a key driver of India's economic growth and global maritime standing. Under the collaboration, South Korea — Korea International Cooperation Agency, along with South Korea — Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, will conduct detailed research on India's shipbuilding and marine engineering sectors, including workforce mapping and skill gap assessment. The project also involves bilateral workshops and discussions for establishing a 'Shipbuilding Workforce Development and Technology Cooperation Center' in India to provide industry-oriented vocational training. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the partnership's role in creating a globally competitive shipbuilding ecosystem and a skilled workforce in India.
