Sabarimala Temple Entry Legal Review

The India — Akhil Bharatiya Sena has filed a plea with the India — Supreme Court of India, seeking to intervene in the ongoing Sabarimala review proceedings. The Samiti argues that courts should not determine essential religious practices, as these are matters of faith. A nine-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, is scheduled to begin final hearings on April 7 on petitions related to discrimination against women at religious places, including the Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple in India — Kerala. In 2018, a five-judge Constitution bench had lifted a ban on women aged 10-50 from entering the Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple, deeming the practice unconstitutional. The India — Akhil Bharatiya Sena, representing various sects of Sanātana Dharma, contends that the judiciary should only intervene in religious practices if they violate public order, morality, or health, and that the right to equality should not override the right to freely profess and practice religion.
