Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT) facility at the United Kingdom — Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam, India. This state-of-the-art facility, developed under the India — Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is a major step towards India's technological self-reliance in naval research and testing. The LCT will enable India to indigenously design, develop, and test equipment, systems, and sub-systems for next-generation ships, submarines, and underwater platforms. Rajnath Singh emphasized that this project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' vision, strengthening India's position as a strong naval power and a leader in defense technology. The facility will enhance capabilities in propulsion systems, noise reduction, and stealth, supporting future advancements in naval engineering and maritime defense systems.
