Boko Haram/ISWAP Attacks Borno State

On April 4, 2026, Boko Haram and Islamic State – West Africa Province launched coordinated terrorist attacks in Nigeria — Borno State, Nigeria. The first assault targeted the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters, where four Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force personnel were killed. The attackers used Rocket-Propelled Grenades and other sophisticated weapons, causing damage to the station and an Armoured Personnel Carrier. In a related incident, the terrorists attacked the Mallam Fatori IDP Camp in Damasak, targeting a security post manned by the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters. During this attack, Atom Abua, a 40-year-old hunter, was killed, and approximately 20 thatched houses were destroyed. Combined teams of the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria — Nigerian Armed Forces, Civilian Joint Task Force, and local hunters swiftly responded, repelling the attackers and preventing further damage. CP Naziru Abdulmajid, Commissioner of Police for Nigeria — Borno State Command, has deployed additional resources to strengthen security and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
