Anambra Police Warns Masked VIP Guards

The Nigeria — Lagos State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu and represented by spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, has raised an alarm over the increasing presence of masked security operatives protecting Very Important Personalities (VIPs) within the state. The command expressed serious concerns that such practices undermine public safety, trust, accountability, and inter-agency collaboration, as they could be exploited by criminal elements. Ikioye Orutugu reiterated that identifiable security personnel are crucial for coordinated security operations and called on all security agencies in Nigeria's Anambra State to ensure their personnel are properly identified during routine or protective duties, with exceptions only for sanctioned tactical operations.
