The successful deployment of 5G mmWave extended range technology by EITC and Ericsson in the United Arab Emirates is expected to positively impact the telecommunications sector by accelerating digital transformation and enhancing connectivity services. This advancement could lead to increased investment in 5G infrastructure and services, benefiting both Ericsson and EITC through improved market position and service offerings.
EITC and Ericsson have successfully completed a proof of concept (PoC) deploying 5G Standalone (SA) using millimeter wave (mmWave) extended range technology in residential areas across the United Arab Emirates. This project, the first implementation of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, leveraged Ericsson's AIR 5343 mmWave radio solution and advanced software to achieve gigabit speeds, extended capacity, and boosted coverage for Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services. The collaboration, highlighted by EITC CEO Fahad Al Hassawi and Ericsson Gulf President Petra Schirren, aims to enhance EITC's FWA offerings and supports the United Arab Emirates' Vision 2031 for digital transformation.
