Nigeria Senate Assures End to Insecurity

Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate of Nigeria, delivered an Easter message at The Apostolic Church convention in Akwa Ibom State, assuring Nigerians that the widespread insecurity in the country would soon become a thing of the past. He acknowledged the grief and loss experienced by many families due to violent attacks and expressed confidence that Nigeria would triumph over these challenges, urging unity and renewed faith. Separately, Opeyemi Bamidele, Leader of the Senate, defended the 2026 Electoral Act against allegations from opposition parties like the Nigeria — African Democratic Congress, stating its provisions were based on stakeholder consensus. He also condemned recent attacks in Nigeria — Plateau State and Nigeria — Kaduna State, promising legislative action, including amendments to the Terrorism Prevention Act, to introduce stiffer penalties for perpetrators.
