The Indian stock markets, represented by the S&P BSE Sensex and NIFTY 50, experienced a decline due to surging Brent Crude prices and heightened geopolitical uncertainty surrounding the West Asia war. Foreign Institutional Investors' outflows further exacerbated the negative sentiment, while Domestic Institutional Investors provided some support.
Indian stock market benchmark indices, S&P BSE Sensex and NIFTY 50, declined significantly in early trade on Tuesday. This downturn was primarily attributed to surging Brent Crude oil prices and growing uncertainty surrounding the West Asia war, which dented investor sentiment. Unabated foreign fund outflows also contributed to the market's gloom, with Foreign Institutional Investors offloading equities worth Rs 8,167.17 crore. Conversely, Domestic Institutional Investors bought stocks worth Rs 8,088.70 crore. Geopolitical risks remain elevated due to mixed messaging from United States leadership and Iran's rejection of a ceasefire proposal. Several companies like IndiGo, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, and Larsen & Toubro were among the biggest laggards, while Mahindra & Mahindra, HCLTech, Bajaj Finance, and Tata Consultancy Services saw gains.
