Phelan Green, through its subsidiary Phelan eFuels, has selected Honeywell UOP's Fischer Tropsch Unicracking process technology for its planned electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) facility in Saldanha Bay, South Africa. This facility, part of the R47 billion Phelan Green Hydrogen Project, is recognized by the South African Government as a nationally strategic green industrial development. Once operational, it will be one of the world's first commercial-scale eSAF production facilities, supplying over 140,000 tons of eSAF annually to the European Union and the United Kingdom markets. Construction is set to begin in Q4 2026, aiming to create thousands of local jobs and establish South Africa as a competitive export hub for advanced aviation fuels. Paschal Phelan, Chairman of Phelan Green, and Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP, both highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration for scalable and efficient low-carbon fuel production.
