The release of Cisco's 'State of Industrial AI Report' provides valuable insights into the adoption and challenges of industrial AI, potentially influencing investment decisions in the technology and industrial sectors. The report highlights the growing importance of AI in critical infrastructure, which could lead to increased spending and innovation in related technologies and services.
Cisco announced the release of its annual 'State of Industrial AI Report' on April 7, 2026. The report, based on a global study of over 1,000 operational technology decision-makers conducted in association with Sapio Research, examines the acceleration of AI deployments in critical infrastructure like factories, utilities, and transportation systems. Key findings indicate that 61% of organizations are actively using AI in live industrial operations, with 20% reporting scaled deployments. While most organizations plan to increase AI spending (83%) and expect meaningful outcomes, readiness gaps in networking infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT/OT operating models are constraining further scaling. Vikas Butaney of Cisco emphasized that success in industrial AI is determined by the readiness of networks, security, and teams to support AI at scale.
