The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) released a national survey on April 7, 2026, revealing that while citizens of the United States are increasingly using the internet and artificial intelligence (AI) for health information, they have low confidence in its accuracy and reliability. Only 11% find it very easy to determine reliability, and 5% are very confident in AI-powered tools. In contrast, 57% are very confident in information from healthcare providers. Valerie Fuller, President of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, emphasized the critical role of trusted providers in helping patients navigate complex health information. The survey, conducted by The Mellman Group in December 2025, also shows strong support (73%) for policies making it easier to choose a nurse practitioner as a healthcare provider.
