The India — Election Commission of India launched the International Election Visitors' Programme (IEVP) 2026 in two phases. The second phase, flagged off on April 21, will see 34 delegates from 17 countries visit India — West Bengal and India — Tamil Nadu from April 22-23 to observe their respective assembly elections. The IEVP aims to provide a comprehensive overview of India's electoral framework, institutional mechanisms, and operational architecture, showcasing best practices in election management to the international community. Delegates, including Branimir Farkas from Croatia, praised India's electoral process as a 'festival of democracy'.
