The agreement aims to promote the adoption of advanced battery-hybrid propulsion systems in the maritime sector, with an initial focus on Ro-Ro ferries. The partnership combines Hanwha Group's expertise in propulsion, energy storage, and systems integration with Rina's regulatory and certification know-how. Hanwha Power Systems will lead the integration, Hanwha Aerospace will provide energy storage systems, and Hanwha Engine will optimize propulsion technologies. Rina will be responsible for verifying regulatory compliance and technical soundness, as well as providing market analysis for the ferry segment. This collaboration is intended to accelerate the transition to low-emission vessels and meet decarbonization targets in the maritime industry.
