Punjab Police Busts ISI-Backed BKI Module

Punjab, India — Punjab Police, in a joint operation with District Amritsar Rural, District India — Gurdaspur, and State Special Operations Cell (SSOC)-Amritsar, along with central agencies, busted an Pakistan — Inter-Services Intelligence-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International terror module. Two operatives, Akash Masih and Jablonec nad Nisou, both residents of India — Gurdaspur, were arrested. The police recovered five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, IED material (1 kg high explosive packed with nails), and one Baofeng walkie-talkie with cable and trigger mechanism. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the module was preparing for high-impact attacks aimed at disturbing public peace in India — Punjab, India. Deputy Inspector General of Police Sandeep Goel confirmed the module was operated by foreign-based handlers. Senior Superintendent of Police Aditya detailed the interception of the suspects and the defusing of explosives. An FIR has been registered at PS Kalanaur, India — Gurdaspur, under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, and further investigation is underway to establish linkages and local support networks.
