Boehringer, BioNTech ES-SCLC Trial

Boehringer Ingelheim announced a clinical trial collaboration with BioNTech to evaluate a novel immuno-oncology combination in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Under the agreement, BioNTech will supply pumitamig (BNT327/BMS-986545), a PD-L1/VEGF-A bispecific antibody jointly developed by BioNTech and Bristol Myers Squibb. Boehringer Ingelheim will be the regulatory sponsor of the Phase Ib/II study, assessing the safety, tolerability, and early clinical activity of its investigational DLL3/CD3 T-cell engager, obrixtamig (BI 764532), in combination with pumitamig. The trial aims to develop a novel treatment regimen for ES-SCLC, a highly aggressive form of lung cancer with poor prognosis. Both obrixtamig and pumitamig have shown promising results in earlier phase trials and have received various designations from the United States — Food and Drug Administration and the International — European Commission.
