The World Health Organization convened its first Global Forum of Collaborating Centres, bringing together over 800 institutions from more than 80 countries. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Dr Sylvie Briand, Chief Scientist, emphasized the network's value in translating evidence into action and the indispensability of trusted scientific collaboration. A key initiative announced was the creation of Collaborative Open Research Consortia (CORC) to accelerate the development of vaccines, diagnostics, and treatments. The forum highlighted the critical need for sustained international cooperation and investment in global health, particularly amid reductions in financing, and announced the next forum for 2027.
