The market is positively impacted by ExxonMobil's multi-billion dollar investment plans in Nigeria's deepwater oil and gas sector, signaling renewed confidence in the country's upstream potential. ExxonMobil has announced plans for multi-billion dollar investments in Nigeria's deepwater oil and gas projects, including the Owowo and Bosi fields, with Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) anticipated as early as next year. This commitment, disclosed during a visit to the Nigeria — Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) headquarters, marks a renewed confidence in Nigeria's improved investment climate and regulatory environment. Hunter Farris, Senior Vice President, Deepwater, ExxonMobil Upstream Company, stated that the company is 'getting back in business' in Nigeria, citing the extension of the Production Sharing Contract on the Erha deepwater project to 2042 and ongoing life extension works. The Owowo project alone is estimated at $7-8 billion, while the Bosi field could attract $15-16 billion in fresh capital. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Commission Chief Executive of NUPRC, welcomed the plans, assuring ExxonMobil of the commission's support for investments aligned with Nigeria's national interest.
