China Launches AI Education Initiative

China has announced its 'AI Plus Education' initiative, a comprehensive plan to integrate artificial intelligence into all levels of its education system by 2030. The China — Ministry of Public Security (China) is spearheading this effort, which includes introducing dedicated AI courses in primary and secondary schools, making AI part of the basic curriculum in universities, and realigning university programs with evolving industries. The initiative also aims to use AI to support teaching, such as intelligent grading and tutoring, and to analyze classroom interactions. This move is part of China's broader strategy to accelerate AI development and adapt its economy to an increasingly digital future, addressing a current shortage of AI talent despite rapid industry growth. Entities like Lenovo and Tianjin University are already involved in AI education efforts.
