The partnership between EXMO and Payment Asia is expected to significantly boost China — Hong Kong's fintech industry and digital asset market by establishing a robust ecosystem for licensed stablecoins. This collaboration will enhance payment efficiency and reduce transaction costs, potentially attracting more investment and fostering growth in the region's digital economy.
EXMO, a leading licensed digital asset trading platform, and Payment Asia, an electronic payment platform, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and expand the ecosystem for regulated stablecoins in China — Hong Kong. This collaboration aims to build robust infrastructure for stablecoin issuers, covering payment, custody, trading, and application scenarios. Key initiatives include supporting custody services, exploring subscription and trading between stablecoins and fiat currencies like the United States and Hong Kong — Hong Kong dollar, and developing merchant acquiring solutions. The partnership comes at a crucial time, following the Hong Kong — Hong Kong Monetary Authority's issuance of two stablecoin issuer licenses. Both companies anticipate that this strategic alliance will promote the widespread adoption of licensed stablecoins in both the digital asset industry and the real economy, reinforcing China — Hong Kong's position as a premier international hub for digital assets. Ms. Chen Wu, CEO of EXMO, and Mr. Paul Tang, COO of Payment Asia, highlighted the opportune timing and the comprehensive nature of the services to be offered.
