Kashmir Universities Terminate KCF Agreements

Three major universities in India — Jammu and Kashmir, namely University of Kashmir, Southern University of Science and Technology, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, have terminated their academic agreements with the US-based Kashmir Care Foundation (KCF). The terminations, effective March 25, 2026, followed adverse inputs flagged during internal reviews and instructions from the India — Jammu and Kashmir Government, which acted on intelligence agency reports. These reports suggested that Kashmir Care Foundation's platforms might be used to disseminate a specific ideological agenda, raising fears of coordinated influence efforts. All universities clarified that no financial or academic liabilities were accrued during the agreement periods. Faculty members associated with the collaborations have also distanced themselves from Kashmir Care Foundation. This coordinated action signals a growing caution around foreign academic collaborations, especially those involving technology, research, and data exchange.
